Content Training for Tour Representatives

The course content is at higher vocational level. General subjects such as history, tourist geography and languages are not covered. We assume that your general development has the desired level.

During the course, both the work of tour manager and on-site host are covered. Although these professions have certain tasks in common, each also has specific requirements. Below you will find an overview of the subjects and subject areas covered in the training.

The training includes the following components:

  • Theoretical knowledge of the travel industry
  • The travel market and career opportunities
  • Legal status and insurances
  • Sustainable tourism
  • Travel preparations (e.g. compiling an itinerary)
  • Presentation and microphone techniques
  • Verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Conflict management, situational leadership and group dynamics
  • Complaint handling, bad-news conversations and problem-solving conversations
  • Commercial skills: organising and selling excursions
  • Relevant procedures: hotel, airport, check-in, luggage and customs handling & transfers
  • Organisational and management skills
  • Consumer administration and complaint forms
  • Business relations with hoteliers and local agents
  • Job application techniques


Course duration
You start when it suits you and study where and when you want! For the full programme, you should count on a study load of about 120 hours. You can also register for the 2 optional training days that take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Examinations
The exam consists of a written test and an online oral exam in the form of a role-play. In this practical part, you deal with an actual case from the world of travel.
